A return to Louisiana in July netted me three assignments in one week. That hasn't happened in several years. I fear that with the well apparently capped, the story will begin to fade from the headlines, even though the economic as well as emotional effects on the Gulf Coast are only just now beginning to be felt. Above: the site of the incident. Below left, Gary Lopinto, seafood program manager for the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, smells an oyster to determine if it is contaminated during a tour of Motivatit Seafood in Houma. Below left, William K. Reilly, left, and U.S. Senator Bob Graham (D-FL) co-chairs of the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling listens to testimony by Kent Wells, Senior Vice President of BP North America during hearings in New Orleans.
